Episode 24: 2015-01-27

Hello!!!!

I recorded and uploaded to YouTube a short little episode. Then, I downloaded a blogging app to my phone. Let's see if this all works. I hope! 😉

My knitting mojo has picked up and I'm trying to figure out quick and easy ways to get back to podcasting and blogging.

Hope you are well!!!

Chevron Chapeau

I am so very happy to tell you about my new pattern.  Before the holidays I was looking for a chevron striped hat pattern that did not require stranded knitting or charts.  After a quick Ravelry search I came up empty handed.  So, I designed the Chevron Chapeau.

The pattern calls for worsted (or even aran) weight yarn.  It comes in 5 sizes--baby, toddler, child, adult, and large adult.  The stripes are a great way to use odds and ends that you may have left over from other projects.  Also, if you double fingering weight yarn it is the same thing as using worsted weight.  You could knit a size bigger to make it a slouchy hat.  You could use self-striping yarn for your chevron stripes.  You could skip the ribbing and let the brim roll.  The possibilities are endless!

Right now I'm thinking about knitting one with an ombre chevron stripe pattern.

You can purchase it on Ravelry for $4, but I have a special coupon code (thankyou) that will give you a dollar off though Saturday April 13, 2013.

I am so very appreciative of the knitting community.  I have made so many wonderful friends and shared amazing experiences with so many knitters.  That's why I decided thank you is the perfect coupon code.  Thank you.

And, a special thank you to my test knitters--Jill, Leanne, Denise, Tara, and Rae Lynne.

Donations for Joplin Childcare Relief

Hello all!

I know knitters are a generous bunch so I wanted to be sure to pass along this information. I'm sure you have heard of the devastating tornado in Joplin, Missouri. The Joplin YMCA is providing free child care to school age children. This is a vital service so the parents are able to recover from the devastation while knowing that their children are taken care of.

Our local Y is a drop spot for donating arts and crafts supplies to the Joplin Y's child care program. You can go to their website to find more specific information on donating. I was so happy to see the opportunity to donate arts and crafts supplies. We are on a tight budget, but we have brand new supplies that I was happy to donate. What a great way to cull the stash! I filled a garbage bag with kid-friendly yarn and my three year old son was happy to give a brand new box of crayons he hadn't opened yet. I always feel so helpless watching the devastation on tv and want to do something. It is a small gesture, but at least it is something.

Please pass along the link to the Y through your blogs, facebook pages, etc. The more people that know, the more these children will benefit! Thank you!!! :)

Welcome to the World Little One!

Annika Rose joined our family nine minutes after midnight on Tuesday April 26th. Just in time to wish her Daddy a happy 40th birthday! She was 8 pounds 3 ounces and 18.5 inches long. We are now home and nicely settling into our routine as a family of four.

Thank you so much for all of your well wishes and thoughtfulness on Ravelry, Plurk, and Facebook.
